
Salma Hayek Pinault, born Salma Valgarma Hayek Jamesenez on September 2, 1966 is an American and Mexican actor and producer. In Mexico she began her professional career by playing the character of Teresa in the telenovela (1989-1991) as well as El Callejon de los Milagros (1995) which was the film in which she received an Ariel Award. In films such as Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999) and Dogma (1999) and Dogma (1999), she quickly made herself a household name as a leading actress in Hollywood. Hayek's portrayal as Frida, the painter, in Frida (2002) and Frida (2002), which she also wrote was what made Hayek the first Mexican actress to win the Academy Award [6]. In addition, it earned her a Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, and British Academy Film Award nominations. Hayek continued to make films as well as starring in action pictures Once Upon a Time in Mexico later on in her career.
